We had an easy crossing from Mobile Bay into the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GICW). While it was slightly frustrating to wait a several days for good weather in Mobile it was worth it. Two words for what took up most of our time in Mobile, AL – boat projects. Traveling the river from Kentucky down here we basically did a “shake out” of the boat. Fortunately Turner Marine is a fantastic marina to spend some time and to work on a boat. We (OK, it was mostly Kent)
In Mobile we rented a car, drove 2 hours west and dropped Glen off at the New Orleans airport. It was great to have him join us for 2 weeks and we hope he enjoyed his time aboard as much as we enjoyed having him. Penny dog will certainly miss the extra attention she got
We ended up staying an extra day longer in Columbus and it was worth it. We saw several of the Antebellum homes in the area. These large plantation style homes were built prior to the Civil War. Columbus served as a place to bring both wounded Confederate and Union soldiers. The large homes in town
